GST Number Search by Name

GST-Number-Search-By-Name

A unique Goods and Services Tax Identification Number, or GSTIN, will be assigned to each business functioning in a state or union territory.

Before implementing GST, the respective state tax authorities provided a unique TIN number to all dealers registered under the state VAT statute.

Service providers are also assigned a service tax registration number, called a GSTIN, which can be searched by name to find details of the provider.

For compliance and administration purposes, taxpayers registered under the GST regime are merged on a single platform, and registration is delegated to a single body.

What is the Structure of a GST Number?

The GSTIN number identifies the business’s state and PAN. The following is a breakdown:

  • The state code is indicated by the first two digits of the 15-digit GSTIN.
  • The rest of the numbers are the person’s or company’s PAN number.
  • The 13th digit corresponds to the number of times its PAN was used within a particular state.
  • ‘Z’ is the default for the fourteenth digit.
  • The check code is the last digit of the number. The code, which might be a number or an alphabet, is used to detect problems.

The number ‘1’ will be issued as the GSTIN’s 13th digit if a business firm has only one registration in the same state. If the same firm obtains a second registration in the same state, the GSTIN’s thirteenth digit will be allocated the number ‘2’. If the corporation has made 11 registrations in the same state, the 13th digit will be ‘B.’ Similarly; any law firm can have up to 35 business verticals and use this approach to register within a state.
