Following more than 20 years of petitions and demands by the citizens, the Maharashtra Government agreed to convert the Panvel Municipal Council to Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) in 2016. The official petition to turn Panvel Municipal Council to Panvel Municipal Corporation was first presented in 1991, which however was delayed. The petition got new life in 2016 owing to the rapid development and urbanization that occurred after 2000. 

This was the first Municipal Corporation in the district of Raigad, and the 9th in the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Area. Other municipal corporations were also established like Thane, Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Navi Mumbai, etc. This is also Mahrasthra’s 27th Municipal Corporation. This corporation is led by the Mayor and is responsible for the infrastructure of the city, utility services, commodities, etc. 

What Does the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) Do?

The PMC is in charge of carrying out a number of tasks in the city. The corporation provides a number of services that are essential to the daily functioning of the city. In accordance with this act, every birth has to be registered with the concerned state authorities within 21 days. How to Make Online Tax Payments Through PMC?

A new online method of Panvel Municipal corporation tax payment was introduced by the Government of Maharashtra in 2021. Since the citizens under Panvel Municipal Corporation have expressed their displeasure with the dual taxation structure, the municipal corporation offers various benefits to the people choosing to pay their tax online. Taxpayers were eligible for a 2% discount on any taxes paid online. The following is how you can pay property tax online in Panvel:

Step 1: You need to visit the official PMC Portal.

Step 2: Click on ‘View and pay your property payment’ under the ‘Online Service’ tab.

Step 1: You need to visit the official portal for PMC.

Step 2: You need to click on the ‘Check your water bill and fill’ option from the list of quick links on the left side of the page.

Step 3: Here you need to search for the property using any of the parameters from Code Number/Node sector number/Customer number/Contact number/Name of connection holder/name of society.

Step 4: Once you have found the due amount, you need to pay it using your credit card/debit card/netbanking/UPI.

Note: There is a 1% transaction fee and 18% GST charge applicable if you pay your water bill using a credit card.
