The Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (MHADA) is reportedly working to ensure swifter possession of apartments for buyers. It will now be including only those residential projects that have obtained RERA registration and OC (occupancy certificates). The new decision will apply for the MHADA lottery schemes which will be unveiled this year for home allotments. This decision will help in lowering delays in possession of apartments in the near future.
Due to all necessary permissions already being in place, possession will eventually happen in a timely manner according to the authorities. This was confirmed by the Minister of State of Housing as per reports and other MHADA authorities. Questions were earlier raised by several sources pertaining to the delays in possession of apartments for winners of MHADA lotteries.
In previous situations, MHADA housing lottery winners get possession of apartments after one year or even more. This causes inconvenience to several buyers. The Minister had called for a meeting of officials of the organization to tackle this issue back in June 2018. The officials stated that several buildings do not have suitable occupancy certificates (OCs) and hence the apartments cannot be delivered to buyers in a timely manner. The Minister has now proposed the inclusion of only those residential buildings which already have all their approvals and certificates in place during the MHADA lotteries.
