The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed a new link connecting the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) with the Yamuna Expressway to strengthen road access to <\/span>Noida International Airport at Jewar<\/span><\/a>. The project will create a direct link between the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the <\/span>Yamuna Expressway<\/span><\/a>, allowing traffic from eastern and northern parts of the National Capital Region to reach Noida International Airport without passing through Noida, Greater Noida or Delhi. The proposal forms part of the broader network of road infrastructure being developed around the airport to improve regional connectivity and support future passenger and cargo movement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The interchange has been proposed to eliminate the existing detour that forces vehicles traveling between the EPE and Yamuna Expressway to use the Dadri-Fatehpur interchange and urban roads. This indirect movement adds nearly 20 km to certain journeys. Once completed, the link will provide direct connectivity between the two expressways and improve road access to Jewar Airport alongside other planned connectivity projects, including the <\/span>Delhi-Mumbai Expressway link<\/span><\/a> and airport access roads.<\/span><\/p>\n

The interchange is currently in the planning stage, while several other airport connectivity projects are under implementation. Meanwhile, Noida International Airport is being developed in phases under the <\/span>YEIDA master plan<\/span><\/a>, with Phase 1 already operational.<\/span><\/p>\n

How the EPE-Yamuna Expressway link will improve connectivity<\/span><\/h2>\n

Beyond providing another access route to the airport, the proposed interchange is expected to reshape regional travel patterns. For traffic approaching from <\/span>Ghaziabad<\/span><\/a>, Hapur, <\/span>Meerut<\/span><\/a>, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, and other towns connected through the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the link would provide a direct transition onto the Yamuna Expressway without entering Noida city. This is beneficial for airport-bound passenger traffic as well as freight vehicles serving logistics and industrial developments around Jewar.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project also improves connectivity between the airport and the wider expressway network. Vehicles traveling from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway can access the EPE before joining the Yamuna Expressway, creating a largely access-controlled route to the airport. Similarly, freight moving along the EPE from Haryana or western Uttar Pradesh can bypass congested urban corridors.<\/span><\/p>\n

For industrial traffic, the interchange strengthens links between the airport region and manufacturing clusters around <\/span>Dadri<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Greater Noida<\/span><\/a>, Bulandshahr, and the logistics corridors developing under YEIDA. Since the airport is planned as an integrated aviation, cargo and logistics hub, uninterrupted highway connectivity is considered essential for cargo movement alongside passenger traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n

The interchange also complements other road projects planned around the airport, including the greenfield expressway connecting the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Jewar Airport. Together, these projects distribute airport traffic across multiple corridors instead of concentrating movement on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and city roads.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sector 18, Sector 20 and Sector 22D, Yamuna Expressway<\/span><\/h3>\n

These <\/span>YEIDA sectors<\/span><\/a> lie among the closest planned residential and mixed-use zones to Noida International Airport. Their appeal is already linked to airport-led development, and the EPE interchange adds another layer of regional accessibility by improving road access from eastern NCR. Residential projects in these sectors will have better road connectivity to the airport as well as Ghaziabad and Meerut through the EPE network.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sector 17A and Sector 22A<\/span><\/h3>\n

These sectors form part of the larger urban development planned along the Yamuna Expressway. Improved connectivity to the EPE will make travel to and from these sectors easier without relying on city roads. Their location near both the airport and the expressway network also supports the mixed residential and commercial development planned under the YEIDA master plan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jewar functions as the immediate urban center adjoining the airport. The airport remains the main driver of development in Jewar, while the EPE interchange will improve road connectivity from eastern Uttar Pradesh and NCR districts. This will improve access to commercial establishments, hotels and other services planned around the airport without changing the town\u2019s role.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dankaur<\/span><\/h3>\n

Located along the Yamuna Expressway before the airport zone, Dankaur gains from being positioned between Greater Noida and Jewar. Better integration with the EPE will improve regional connectivity for commuters travelling from Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr while strengthening Dankaur’s position along the Yamuna Expressway corridor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dadri<\/span><\/h3>\n

Although Dadri is not located on the Yamuna Expressway itself, it already serves as an important logistics and industrial hub with connectivity to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Dedicated Freight Corridor. The proposed interchange improves direct highway access between Dadri’s industrial areas and the airport region, supporting faster freight movement and reducing reliance on urban roads. This is relevant for warehousing, logistics parks and industrial developments linked to airport cargo operations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Greater Noida logistics and industrial belt<\/span><\/h3>\n

Industrial clusters around <\/span>Surajpur<\/span><\/a>, Ecotech, and adjoining Greater Noida industrial sectors stand to benefit from a more direct expressway connection to the airport. For these areas, the project’s significance lies less in residential accessibility and more in improving movement between manufacturing units, warehousing facilities and the emerging air cargo ecosystem around Noida International Airport.<\/span><\/p>\n
