This is particularly relevant for heavy vehicles moving between different parts of Bihar. The planned corridor is designed to take through traffic around the city rather than through its existing urban road network.

The Ganga crossings form an important part of that connectivity. The Kachhi Dargah-Bidupur project connects NH-30 near Kachhi Dargah in Patna with NH-103 near Bidupur in Vaishali. The Bihar government has said the crossing will provide an alternative connection between north and south Bihar and reduce pressure on the Mahatma Gandhi Setu.

The Sherpur-Dighwara package will add another six-lane Ganga crossing to the Patna Ring Road network.
