The project has moved forward with the sanction of a Final Location Survey (FLS) for preparing its Detailed Project Report (DPR), according to the Ministry of Railways. Reports suggest the new route could cut Delhi-Jaipur travel time by up to 1.5 hours.

Rewari-Jaipur rail line moves ahead

The Ministry of Railways confirmed the proposed Rewari-Jaipur railway line via Neemrana in a written Lok Sabha reply dated March 25, 2026. The proposed corridor will cover approximately 191 km and provide another rail connection between Haryana and Rajasthan.

The project is relevant to Delhi-Jaipur connectivity because Rewari serves as an important railway junction for trains traveling between the National Capital Region and Rajasthan. Currently, two existing routes connect Delhi and Jaipur through Rewari. These are the Delhi-Rewari-Alwar-Bandikui-Jaipur route and the Delhi-Rewari-Ringus-Jaipur route.

The proposed line would add another connection to this network. It could also improve access to industrial locations along the Haryana-Rajasthan border, particularly Neemrana and nearby towns.

The proposal has a longer history linked to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). During a Lok Sabha discussion on March 10, 2026, Jaipur Rural MP Rao Rajendra Singh raised the need to reassess the earlier Delhi-Bhiwadi-Neemrana-Manoharpur-Jaipur railway proposal. He highlighted its relevance to industrial development and regional connectivity.

New rail route to pass through Neemrana and Kotputli

The proposed corridor will connect Rewari in Haryana with Jaipur in Rajasthan through Neemrana. Locations mentioned in reports about the proposed alignment include Shahjahanpur, Behror, Kotputli, Paota-Pragpura and Shahpura.

However, the Ministry’s parliamentary reply confirms the overall Rewari-Jaipur alignment via Neemrana, not the final list of intermediate stations. Their locations and inclusion will depend on the survey and subsequent planning.

The additional railway connection could provide another travel option for passengers between Delhi and Jaipur. It may also improve access to towns along the proposed corridor, reducing dependence on existing railway routes for certain journeys.

Neemrana’s Industrial Belt could gain better rail access

The proposed railway line could improve connectivity to one of Rajasthan’s important industrial regions. Neemrana forms part of the Khushkhera-Bhiwadi-Neemrana industrial belt, which has attracted manufacturing investments and industrial infrastructure development.

RIICO has developed a Japanese Investment Zone at Neemrana, with industrial plots and supporting infrastructure for businesses. A railway connection through the region could provide another transport option for industrial workers and improve access to nearby employment centers.

Behror and Kotputli could also gain from better regional connectivity if the final alignment includes the proposed locations. Businesses may get another option for moving goods, while residents could find it easier to access employment centers in nearby industrial towns.

The development could also affect residential real estate. Improved access to industrial areas may support demand for rental housing and homes around Neemrana, Behror and Kotputli. However, these remain potential outcomes. No official projections link property price appreciation or rental growth to the proposed railway line.

Rewari-Jaipur rail line yet to receive construction clearance

The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the Final Location Survey to prepare the DPR for the 191 km Rewari-Jaipur line. The report will establish the technical and financial details required to assess the project.

The next stages involve consultations with relevant stakeholders, including the state governments, followed by the necessary appraisals and approvals. The Ministry has specifically referred to appraisal by NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Finance before sanctioning the project.

The railway line does not yet have an officially announced construction cost, start date or completion deadline. The Ministry has also clarified that implementation timelines depend on completing the required approval process.

The completion and appraisal of the DPR will therefore be important milestones for the project. Until the necessary approvals are secured, the proposed railway line remains in the planning stage, and construction has yet to be confirmed.

A proposed 191 km railway line between Rewari and Jaipur via Neemrana could add a rail link between Delhi and Rajasthan’s capital.
