Yet, applications like WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram will retain their original names despite the massive rebranding campaign set to follow. Facebook has billions of global users for its social media platforms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, stated that the company is now called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meta<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while adding that the mission will be similar, connecting more people through its platforms, apps and brands. He also stated that the company has come out from a learning experience owing to its struggles with closed platforms and social problems. Zuckerberg stated that this was the best time to channelize this knowledge and build <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the next chapter<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at his annual developers\u2019 conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technology and industry leaders are still decoding the impact of the change to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meta<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Co-Founder and CIO, Square Yards, Hitesh Singla, stated that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Metaverse <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be the future of social since Mark Zuckerberg is aiming at aligning of the total company vision with the same. He added that a change of name helps in accomplishing this swiftly and this is a major statement by itself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other experts felt that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.squareyards.com\/blog\/metaverse-real-estate\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Metaverse<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> means a vision for internet in the future in the works of Neal Stephenson. Facebook, according to them, is attempting to go with that kind of vision, while becoming more than only a social media entity. Mark Zuckerberg has already stated that the company will not be linked only to the Facebook application or social media. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snow Crash<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Neal Stephenson talks of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Metaverse<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where human beings interact as virtual space avatars. Zuckerberg may be hinting at the same through the acquisition of AR (augmented reality) brand Occulus Rift.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other experts feel that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Metaverse<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will mean that everything comes in 3D in place of 2D eventually and this is why the company name will be changed likewise.
