About Cavelossim, Goa

Cavelossim is a village in South Goa district, India. It is believed that it is an underrated attraction that is renowned for its peace-in-chaos beaches, creating a captivating comparison for visitors. In the first place, the town was the home of goddess Shri Shantadurga, who was established at Kawlem (also popular as one of the largest temples of the state). The deity was taken from Cavelossim to Kawlem in Ponda Taluka during the Portuguese inquisition of Goa. It is also said that Chattrapati Shahu donated a lot to reconstruct the temple at Kawlem, as a part of donations to reconstruct various temples to deities that were moved during the Inquisition period.

In addition, Cavelossim is also famous for its mismatched black rocks and white dunes. The beach is 15 km south of Margao, the district nerve centre of South Goa. Other popular beaches to consider while travelling to Cavelossim include Carmona Beach and Mobor Beach. In terms of connectivity, the Dabolim International Airport is a 40-minute drive away, while Margao Railway Station lies 15km away. Regular buses connect Cavelossim to other Goan destinations. The beach lies between the eastwards of river Sal and the westwards of the Arabian Sea. Offering a calming destination full of peaceful beaches, Cavelossim catches the eyes of many tourists. Apart from sightseeing or swimming on the beach, one can also opt for dolphin-sighting boat trips in this location.
