The NMMC carries out several health and cleanliness drives in public for taking care of the health of citizens. Vashi is home to several banks, retail outlets, restaurants, businesses, offices and clinics. Vashi lies near the proposed international airport near Panvel. Traveling from Vashi to Mumbai takes approximately 50 minutes by train from the railway station as part of the Harbor Line. There are railway options from Wadala Road and Dadar. The Trans Harbor railway line links Thane to Vashi while the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is also well connected to the area. Long distance trains go till CST, Panvel, Bandra, LTT Kurla and Mumbai Central among other zones.
The Sion-Panvel Highway and the Palm Beach Road intersect at the Sector 17 in Vashi while the Eastern Freeway has cut down commuting time to just 30 minutes till South Mumbai. There are public transport facilities all throughout Vashi and there are two major bus depots as well. There is a lot of traffic movement on the Vashi-Kopar Khairane Road and also till the Thane-Belapur Industrial Belt. The planned monorail and metro networks will also boost connectivity in Vashi. The BEST bus network is highly active in Vashi and the area is also home to several playgrounds and sporting clubs as well. Property prices have gone up by approximately 7.1% in the area as per Q3 2015 and average prices stand at around INR 11, 300 per sq. ft. for the same period here.
