Lucknow Metro Phase-1B East-West Corridor Gets Green Light

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a tripartite MoU for the Lucknow Metro Phase-1B East-West Corridor project, connecting Charbagh to Vasant Kunj. This ₹5,801.05 crore project will be funded equally by the Centre and the state government.

Lucknow Metro Phase 2 Construction to Commence Soon, 12 New Stations Planned

Construction for the second phase of the Lucknow Metro, an East-West Corridor from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj, is set to begin soon. The project, estimated at ₹5,800 crore, will feature 12 new stations, seven underground and five elevated. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance connectivity across the city.

Lucknow Municipal Corporation Inaugurates 456 Projects Worth ₹29.62 Crore in Zone 1

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has launched 456 projects valued at ₹29.62 crore in Zone 1, encompassing areas like Hazratganj, Lalbagh, and Aminabad. These projects include road construction and widening, drainage strengthening, and park beautification, aimed at improving traffic flow, sanitation, and green spaces.

Lucknow Metro Phase II Receives Funding Boost in Union Budget 2026-27

The Union Budget 2026-27 has allocated ₹1,450 crore for the Lucknow Metro Phase II,East-West corridor (Charbagh-Basant Kunj corridor). This funding will expedite the construction of the 11.16 km corridor, featuring 12 stations, and improve connectivity in the western parts of Lucknow. The corridor will cover 11.16 km from Charbagh to Basant Kunj at an estimated cost of ₹5,801 crore.

Lucknow Metro Expansion Approved, Aims for 2047 Integration

The Central Government has approved a long-term metro expansion plan for Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra, extending until 2047, aligning with the 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision to develop an integrated urban transport network. Additionally, the central government approved the Lucnow Metro Rail Project's East-West Corridor, an 11.16 km route with 12 stations, estimated at ₹58.01 billion.This east-west route is expected to be completed in next five years.

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is expediting the commencement of Phase 2 of the Lucknow Metro, known as the Red Line or East-West Corridor. This 11 km stretch will link Aminabad, KGMU, and Chowk , and will include 12 stations.
