Positives: As a young woman, I had briefly lived in Uttam Nagar and loved its congested but functional pace. The Blue Line metro (Uttam Nagar East and West) enabled fast commuting, and several shops, schools and hospitals were just walking distance away. Rents were considered reasonable in relation to central Delhi, and the local bazaars offered fresh fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. Small parks and friendly neighbors that facilitated easy settling were likable. Daily tasks were convenient due to the proximity of markets, bus connections, and low-cost services, and hence short-term residence seemed uncomplicated and very convenient. Negatives: The downsides were waterlogging of the low-lying areas during the monsoon, and congested alleys with little parking and periodic noise. With these problems, I departed with warm, functional memories and would revisit for short stays.

Positives: Metro accessibility of Uttam Nagar East & West stations on Blue Line makes it easy to commute to Rajouri Garden, Connaught Place or Noida. Road connectivity is good with Najafgarh Road, Pankha Road and Outer Ring Road in the vicinity. Schools such as Adarsh Public, DPS Dwarka, hospitals and shopping malls such as Unity One, Pacific Mall are within accessible distance. And property is cheaper here in relation to central Delhi. Negatives: Most houses are builder floors or small flats, not much of big flats. Again, traffic congestion and pollution are a major issue, particularly during peak hours or monsoon season. Periodically waterlogging in low-lying lanes and internal narrow streets causes hassles after heavy rains.

Positives: I have just shifted to Uttam Nagar, and I find it very suitable for urban living. It is well connected with the Blue Line Metro and government buses, and commuting is convenient. I prefer that several schools, hospitals, and markets are around, making everyday chores easy. Roads are generally good, and streets are well lit during the night, so it is safe. Negatives: On the negative side, rooms in most flats are smaller and cramped. Traffic jam is a regular feature during rush hours, and the locality is crowded. Sounds are loud on some roads, and occasional water supply interruptions are a nuisance. In spite of these, the area is vibrant and reasonable, making it cozy to reside.
