Mahi Barrage Project Approved for ₹1,700 Crore, Benefiting Vadodara and Surrounding Districts

The state government has approved the Badalpur-Kareli Barrage Cum Bridge project on the Mahi River, estimated at ₹1,700 crore. This project will store 183 million cubic meters of freshwater, address salinity issues, and provide clean drinking water to 409 villages, including those in the Vadodara district, benefiting over 1.5 million people.

The overall 66 km project, with an estimated cost of ₹1,500 crore, is designed to significantly reduce traffic pressure inside the city by diverting heavy vehicles and improving inter-regional connectivity.
