A proposal to alter the Indore Metro rail line to run underground from Khajrana Square via Palasia Square to the Bada Ganpati area has been approved, following protests from residents and businesses concerned about disruptions in densely populated areas. The underground alignment is expected to increase project costs but aims to resolve issues caused by previous planning .

Indore is observing 'No Car Day' on September 22 for the third consecutive year to reduce vehicular pollution and traffic. A car-free zone will be established from Geeta Bhawan to Palasia, and a cyclothon is planned from Palasia to Rajwada and back.
