Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans for a rapid rail corridor connecting Lucknow, Unnao, and Kanpur, modeled after the Delhi-Meerut RRTS. Additionally, an outer ring road will link key districts in the proposed State Capital Region, including Lucknow, Unnao, Sitapur, Hardoi, Barabanki, and Rae Bareli.

The 63-km Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is nearing completion and is expected to be operational by February 2026. This project, built at a cost of Rs 4,700 crore, will reduce travel time between Lucknow's Amausi area and Kanpur to just 40 minutes.
