The Supreme Court has ordered the demolition of two illegal buildings, Krishna Complex and Trimurti Park, in Sector 16A of Nerul, Navi Mumbai, constructed on plots reserved for a public garden. The court directed the 165 families residing in these buildings to vacate within six months, with the NMMC authorized to take action after that. The builders, Nilesh Patel, Nilesh Bhagat, and Ganesh Bhagat, face potential penalties, and the civic and police officials who overlooked the illegal construction may also be held liable.

The Bombay High Court quashed a joint registrar's order that permitted a developer to form a separate cooperative society for 14 shops within a residential complex in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai. Justice Amit Borkar stated that the registrar cannot create rights not in the statute or approved layout, especially when the promoter gave a contractual undertaking to form one common society. The court emphasized that residential and commercial units have different uses, obligations, and interests.
