West Bengal receives ₹1,043 crore for road infrastructure upgrades

The central government has approved ₹1,042.62 crore for six road projects across West Bengal, covering 194.10 km under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) Scheme. These projects will focus on widening and strengthening existing roads to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and enhance safety.

West Bengal Passes Bills to Increase Kolkata and Howrah Municipal Wards

The West Bengal Assembly has passed bills to increase the number of wards in Kolkata Municipal Corporation from 144 to 209, and in Howrah Municipal Corporation from 50 to 68. This delimitation exercise aims to change the civic administration and political geography, potentially improving neighborhood representation and the delivery of civic services.
