Key Insights
of Bijnor

Bijnor is a residential neighbourhood in India's Uttar Pradesh state's Sarojaninagar block of Lucknow district. As the administrative centre for a pargana in the Lucknow tehsil, it was once a significant town. It is situated to the east of the main Kanpur–Lucknow highway. The Bakh river's source is a collection of jhils to the east of Bijnor. 14,105 people called it home as of 2011, making up 2,515 households. It serves as a municipal corporation's headquarters.

In the beginning of the 20th century, Bijnor was described as a town with good farming that was bordered by expansive Usar plains, picturesquely situated among trees. Except for the brick homes of the Sheikh zamindars, most of the town's homes were made of mud. A cattle market and twice-weekly bazaars were also conducted there. There was additionally an upper primary school, which typically had approximately 60 kids enrolled. After the British conquest of Oudh State in 1856, Bijnor, which had once been a major trading hub, saw a sharp collapse. Cotton textile production in the area had also decreased, despite the fact that it was still a sizable regional industry at the turn of the century.
