Navi Mumbai International Airport is emerging as a crucial alternative for cargo operations as Mumbai Airport undergoes runway and taxiway upgrades, leading to a temporary suspension of its freighter services. Airlines like Cathay Cargo, Air France, and Lufthansa Cargo are exploring or confirming shifts to Navi Mumbai.

International Flights to Begin from Navi Mumbai Airport on July 15

Navi Mumbai International Airport will commence international passenger and cargo operations from July 15, 2026. Airlines such as Air India Express and IndiGo are slated to operate international flights from the Adani Group-owned facility.

Navi Mumbai Gears Up for Major Infrastructure Push with ₹16,250 Crore Budget

CIDCO has unveiled an ambitious ₹16,250 crore budget for FY27, signaling a significant infrastructure expansion centered around the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The plan includes developing integrated zones like Aerocity, EduCity, and MediCity to drive economic activity and attract investments.

During Q1'2026, average property prices for Maruti Sri moved from ₹ 11,200/sqft to ₹ 12,250/sqft, reflecting a 9.38% rise.

Structural Works reach 75% completion, External Works has reached 100%, Internal finishing stands at 100%, MEP Services including lift and staircases, are now 90% done.

The 5.8-kilometer Ulwe Coastal Road, with an additional 0.9-kilometer link to the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) terminal, is on track for completion by September 2026, with traffic expected to commence by October or November. This project by CIDCO will provide a direct route from the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (Atal Setu) to NMIA, saving travelers approximately 25 minutes.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is scheduled to be inaugurated on September 30, 2025, and is expected to alleviate congestion at the existing Mumbai airport. The airport's design is inspired by the lotus flower and will feature modern, sustainable infrastructure. Phase 1 will have the capacity to handle 20 million passengers annually, eventually expanding to four terminals and two runways for 90 million passengers per year. IndiGo and Akasa Air are confirmed to operate from NMIA at launch. Images of the under-construction airport have surfaced, showcasing its lotus-inspired design and spacious terminals. The Mahayuti government delayed the inauguration due to pitru paksha, considering September 30 an auspicious date. The airport will be accessible via road, rail, and water transport, including the Atal Setu.

External Works has reached 93%, Internal finishing stands at 56%, MEP Services including lift and staircases, are now 73% done.

A total of 14 out of 20 launched units have been booked as of January 2025, including 38% of 1 BHK(3 out of 8 units), 50% of 2 BHK(1 out of 2 units), 100% of LANDOWNER 1 BHK(8 units), LANDOWNER 2 BHK(2 units).
