Sholinganallur is a locality in the southern part of Chennai. This locality has seen a boom in population and real estate over the last few years due to a growth a thriving IT industry in the area. Sholinganallur is located along the OMR, of the most important roadways of Tamil Nadu. This locality is also in close proximity to the Chennai International Airport. Many schools, restaurnats, and hospitals have opened up in this locality to cater to the population shifting there. This locaity is also home to the Prathyangira Devi Temple which is well renowned in south India. The name of the locality Sholinganallur can actually be translated to marshland. This region used to be a marshy area that has now given way to a modern IT hub. But there are still parts of the Sholinganallur marshes that have been retained and tourists come here for bir-watching and to enjoy the beauty of the area. There are also a number of lakes and water bodies scattered all over this locality that add a touch of fresh air to this urban area.
