About Dharmatala, Kolkata

dharmatala, Kolkata, is a famous locality with a pin-code – 700013. the street has been renamed as lenin sarani after vladimir ilych lenin, but the neighbourhood up to wellington square is still referred to as dharmatala. it is one of the busiest commercial areas. 

dharmatala is referred to as one of the buddhist trinity- dharma, and means the holy street.  it extends from chowringhee road to nirmal chandra street. it has bow bazar to its north, jan bazar to its south, taltala to east and maidan to west. in 1882, horse-drawn tramcars were a hit in dharmatala. later came the calcutta tramways company, which electrified the entire system. the kolkata tram is the only tramway in india. dharmatala holds a lot of historical references. 


dharmatala is the busiest bus terminus of west bengal. few kolkata trams start their journey from dharmatala. its a significant traffic hub as around 200000 – 300000 vehicles pass through here during rush hours. it has substantial railways as well as metro stations located in and around the area. the average price is 7326 per square feet. a 2 bhk would come in the range of 60 lacs, and the other half of the property is in a bracket of 3.8 crore – 4 crores. 62 % property is commercial office space.
