Following the reorganization of the state into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, the amended land laws have done away with the restrictions on the purchase of farmland by non-Jammu and Kashmiri agriculturists. Any Indian citizen can buy land in Jammu and Kashmir, except agricultural land.
