Wakad is a developing area situated in Pune, Maharashtra and is close to the famous Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park at Hinjewadi. Wakad was once mostly known for its four-day Mhatoba Utsav, a traditional festival dating back to over 450 years honouring Mhatoba the village deity. It’s hard to imagine that once, Wakad was mainly farmland where crops like groundnuts and sugarcane flourished. Today Wakad is unrecognisable.
