People of Wakad also complain of inadequate water supply in their homes.

Wakad, along with other smaller areas like Pimple Saudagar, began to develop as a result of the meteoric demand for economical housing from the influx of migrants coming in for employment in IT and manufacturing companies. It is well-connected through Mumbai Highway (NH-48), Wakad-Bhosari BRTS Road and Aundh-Ravet BRTS Road. Buses operated by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) connect Wakad with different parts of Pune. Pune Junction Railway Station (17 km) and Pune International Airport (23 km) can be reached in an hour. Also, the 23.3 km planned metro Line 3 (Hinjewadi Phase III - Civil Court) would further improve the physical infrastructure of Baner and boost connectivity in the region.
