Pune-Nashik Highway Project: Land Acquisition to be Fast-Tracked for ₹7,827-Crore Elevated Corridor

MLA Mahesh Landge has directed officials to expedite land acquisition for the Pune-Nashik Highway widening and elevated corridor project. The ₹7,827 crore project includes a 30-km, eight-lane elevated corridor and widening of the existing highway. This initiative is expected to ease traffic congestion in Pimpri-Chinchwad region especially.

Pimpri-Chinchwad, once considered Asia's wealthiest municipal corporation, is experiencing water scarcity with water being supplied only on alternate days for the past six and a half years. The delay in the Pavana closed pipeline and Bhama Askhed projects, stalled for years due to land acquisition issues and political opposition, is exacerbating the problem.

The Pune Municipal Corporation's general body has approved proposals for extending the Pune Metro to peripheral areas. New routes from Khadakwasla to Donaje, Katraj to Khed Shivapur, Katraj to Undri, and Wagholi to Lonikand have been sanctioned.
