Pune-Nashik Highway Project: Land Acquisition to be Fast-Tracked for ₹7,827-Crore Elevated Corridor

MLA Mahesh Landge has directed officials to expedite land acquisition for the Pune-Nashik Highway widening and elevated corridor project. The ₹7,827 crore project includes a 30-km, eight-lane elevated corridor and widening of the existing highway. This initiative is expected to ease traffic congestion in Pimpri-Chinchwad region especially.

During Q2'2026, average property prices for RS Dream City moved from ₹ 8,950/sqft to ₹ 11,500/sqft, reflecting a 28.49% rise.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Faces Water Shortage Amidst Delayed Pipeline Projects

Pimpri-Chinchwad, once considered Asia's wealthiest municipal corporation, is experiencing water scarcity with water being supplied only on alternate days for the past six and a half years. The delay in the Pavana closed pipeline and Bhama Askhed projects, stalled for years due to land acquisition issues and political opposition, is exacerbating the problem.

Pune Metro Expansion Gets Green Light for Peripheral Routes

The Pune Municipal Corporation's general body has approved proposals for extending the Pune Metro to peripheral areas. New routes from Khadakwasla to Donaje, Katraj to Khed Shivapur, Katraj to Undri, and Wagholi to Lonikand have been sanctioned. These extensions are expected to improve connectivity to Sinhagad Fort, the proposed outer ring road, and newly developing areas.

Pune Metro Network to Expand to Nearly 200 km, Addressing Traffic Congestion

CM Devendra Fadnavis announced that Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and the Pune Metropolitan region will soon have a nearly 200 km Metro network. This expansion aims to significantly alleviate traffic congestion in the city. Currently, about 33 km of the metro network is operational, & 55 km in construction phase ,with further additions planned.

Pune is experiencing advancements in several infrastructure projects. The Pune-Lonavla rail corridor is being upgraded to facilitate speeds of up to 130 kmph by June 2026.The state government has sanctioned ₹350 crore to strengthen the electricity network in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Works are expedited for water supply infrastructure projects in the Aundh-Bopodi area.

Pune Infrastructure Projects Advance: Bridges, Flyovers, and Expressway 'Missing Link' Nearing Completion

Several infrastructure projects in and around Pune are progressing towards completion. One of the two new river bridges on the Mutha River at Warje on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Bypass is complete ,awaiting final testing, Balewadi-Kaspate Wasti bridge over the Mula-Mutha river, is expected to complete in an year. Pune University Square flyover is targeted for completion in 2026 ,easing traffic to Shivajinagar, Aundh, Baner, and Pashan.

During Q4'2025, average property prices for RS Dream City moved from ₹ 8,700/sqft to ₹ 8,800/sqft, reflecting a 1.15% rise.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is fast-tracking land acquisition for several pending road and development works, including 47 'missing links', to ease traffic congestion and improve civic infrastructure.
