Bengaluru to White-Top 450 km of Roads to Combat Potholes

Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd (B-SMILE) is developing a blueprint to white-top ( Cement plastering ) , an additional 450 kilometers of roads across the city at an estimated cost of Rs 30 billion. Bengaluru's residential property prices are projected to increase by up to 40% through 2027, driven by the expansion of the Namma Metro network. The opening of the elevated section of Bengaluru's Pink Line metro has been delayed to May 2026 due to construction delays. The underground section is projected to be completed by September/December 2026. This delay impacts commuters in South Bengaluru, and the ongoing construction has led to poor road conditions with numerous potholes, especially on Bannerghatta Road. BMRCL blames other civic agencies for not restoring the road properly after digging.

Karnataka's Deputy CM D K Shivakumar announced an allocation of ₹1,100 crore for Bengaluru's road infrastructure, aiming for smooth, pothole-free roads. ₹50 crore has been earmarked for each of the 14 key assembly constituencies, while the remaining constituencies will receive ₹25 crore each.
