How do I calculate plot area?

Calculating the plot area depends on the shape. For rectangular plots, multiply the length (L) by the width (W) in the same unit (feet, meters) to get the area (A) in square units (A = L x W). For instance, on a rectangular plot 50 feet long (L) and 30 feet wide (W), its area would be 1500 square feet (A = 50 ft x 30 ft). For triangular plots, the formula gets a bit trickier. Here, the area (A) involves the base (B) and the height (H) from the base to the opposite corner, both measured in the same unit. The formula is A = 1/2 * B * H (square units). Remember, use the actual height, not the side length of the triangle. For oddly shaped plots, you might need to get creative. Divide the plot into simpler shapes like rectangles or triangles, calculate the area of each section separately, and then add all those areas together to find the total plot area. You can also use digital tools like satellite imagery software or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to calculate the area.
