Mega Blocks on Central and Transharbour Lines for Essential Railway Maintenance

Mumbai's suburban railway network will observe mega blocks on the Central and Transharbour Lines on June 28, 2026, to facilitate essential maintenance of tracks and signaling systems. Mumbai's historic Elphinstone Road Overbridge, a 113-year-old British-era structure, has been dismantled. This move is part of infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving rail operations and commuter safety. The dismantling creates space for two additional suburban lines between Kurla and Parel, which will eventually extend to CSMT. A new double-decker ROB will replace the old structure.
