An essential piece of furniture in a house is an almirah or wardrobe. Vastu dictates that the almirah be positioned at the rooms south-west corner, facing north-east. Because it is thought to offer stability and security, this is the role that is desirable. Also, it is advised that the almirah be constructed of wood and have doors that open to the east or north.
