Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Longest Expressway in World

Delhi Mumbai Expressway

The foundation stone for the construction of the Delhi Mumbai expressway was laid in 2019, with the intention of connecting the two economic centers of the country. This 1380 Km highway is the largest highway in India and reduces the distance between Mumbai to Delhi by 12 hours. The construction of this project is in full swing and is expected to be completed by January 2023. The plans for the largest NH in India states that the road will pass through 5 states and several greenfield sites, which are meant to be turned into warehousing facilities.

In order to address the problem of vehicular pollution, there are also plans to build a separate e-highway on the Delhi to Mumbai expressway for the movement of commercial vehicles. The construction of this e-highway is also expected to lead to a 70% decrease in logistics costs in the country.
