There is huge demand for property in Rajarhat and with good reason! Rajarhat is the sister zone of New Town. The master plan envisions the development of a township that is bigger and better equipped than Salt Lake which is the neighboring zone to covet at present. Property prices in Rajarhat stand at approximately INR 2, 600 per sq. ft. as per Q3 2015 and the affordable property prices here have spurred several purchases from buyers. A majority of new projects coming up or being constructed in Kolkata are based in Rajarhat which goes to show how it is billed as the growth township of the future. Rajarhat is approximately an hour or a little more from Kolkata downtown depending on the traffic.
Rajarhat New Town is a Solar City and the West Bengal Government is trying to get this declared as a Smart Green City. HIDCO is a major development authority in the area. The Rajarhat Main Road is a major thoroughfare in the area and there are several arterial roads running parallel to this road as well. These link the area to the New Town CBD, Kolkata Airport, Basanti Road and the IT Hub. The EM Bypass is well linked to Rajarhat along with the VIP Road and several important roads. The EM Bypass ensures great connectivity to Eastern Kolkata areas including Ruby and Jadavpur in addition to Prince Anwar Shah Road through the Jadavpur Connector. It also ensures great connectivity to Kasba and Gariahat. The Parama Flyover is also easily accessible from the locality.
The New Garia-Airport line of the Kolkata Metro Extension will also pass through Rajarhat while the circular railway will be extended from Bidhannagar Road or Ultadanga to New Town through Lake Town and Salt Lake. The biggest plus point for Rajarhat is that it is directly connected to the International Airport and the Sector V business hub in Salt Lake. Rajarhat is itself home to several major IT and business zones in addition to landmark buildings. 10.5 kilometres has also been designated as a Wi-Fi zone and a flyover has also been built in Action Area-I. There are several proposals for more flyovers and expressways to ease traffic movement. Several companies like Wipro, TCS, HP, IBM, Vodafone, Genpact, Tech Mahindra and Accenture are located in the area while the World Trade Centre, EcoSpace Business Park, TCS SEZ, New Town Arbitration and Financial Hub and Unitech Building are located in the area.
