Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has invited bids for the construction of a 4.4-km elevated section and three metro stations under Phase I of the Surat Metro Rail Project. Estimated at Rs 356.54 crore, the tender will extend the metro network from Saroli Metro Station to the proposed Surat HSR Metro Station, strengthening connectivity along an important transport corridor in the city.
Rs 356.54 crore tender covers 4.4-km elevated section
The Phase I extension package covers approximately 4.4 km of elevated viaduct and three metro stations between Saroli and the proposed Surat HSR Metro Station.
The tender also includes electrical and mechanical (E&M) works and associated civil and infrastructure works required for the elevated section. Construction will involve coordination with existing roads, utilities and transportation infrastructure.
The package is expected to attract participation from civil contractors, viaduct specialists, structural engineering firms, EPC contractors and other metro infrastructure companies.
Saroli-Surat HSR section to strengthen multimodal connectivity
The proposed extension will take metro connectivity towards the Surat HSR Metro Station, linking the city’s urban metro network with its emerging high-speed rail infrastructure.
The section is part of Surat’s wider efforts to expand high-capacity public transport and improve connections between different modes of transportation. The three proposed stations are expected to add to the reach of the existing metro network along the corridor.
Metro extension brings focus to Saroli corridor
The extension could also affect the real estate market around Saroli and the proposed metro stations, particularly as accessibility improves along the corridor.
Better public transport connectivity can support residential and commercial activity around metro-linked locations. However, the extent of any impact on property prices or rental demand will depend on station locations, last-mile connectivity and surrounding development.
GMRC tender moves Phase I extension towards implementation
With the tender now invited for the Rs 356.54-crore package, the Saroli-Surat HSR section is moving towards the next stage of implementation. The proposed 4.4-km elevated viaduct and three stations will expand Surat’s metro network and strengthen its integration with the city’s planned high-speed rail infrastructure.
