Late Fee, Penalty, and Rebate on MCG Property Tax

Late fee: You’ve to pay the late fee as an additional charge of 1.5% of the amount due is levied for not paying the tax with a due date.

Penalty: In case you fail in the payment of property tax, you will pay a penalty amount that equals the amount of tax you evaded and it will be in addition to the amount of property tax.

Rebate: If you pay your due tax before 31st July of the assessment year, 105 of the rebate on the tax amount shall be applicable.

If you are paying the property tax online for the very first time then you need to visit the official website of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon.

  • On the website, you are required to register yourself and create a User ID.
  • On this page, you can locate the map of Gurgaon. To pinpoint your property, you have to input some details such as Colony, Ward Zone, Police Station, Pin code, and functionary’s Name.
  • After entering the requisite information website, the MCG will provide an online form for filing a property tax return. Fill in all the relevant/mandatory fields in the form such as Name, Address, Zone Number, Ward Number, Khasra Number, Unique property ID, etc.
  • As a taxpayer, you can calculate your property tax by using the calculator which is provided on the portal by entering the Property Unique ID.
  • As a property owner, you can also pay the tax for your property offline at the citizen facilitation center. But before that download the form from the MCG’s web portal and fill in the form. The property holders in Gurgaon may also deposit the property tax at any designated branch of Oriental Bank of Commerce.

Exemptions on Property Tax in Gurgaon:

The parking area at the basement is exempted from tax. The orphanages, religious places, and office buildings of government and government hospitals are also exempted from paying the property tax in Gurgaon.

Retired employees from the paramilitary force, ex-servicemen, personnel from the paramilitary force, and defense service are exempted from property tax as well.

War widows and Ex-Freedom fighters are also entitled to a complete discount on property tax payments.

Also, the Farmland and Horticulture land are exempted.

What Rebate do I get on Property Tax?

=> A rebate of one time i.e., 30% are permitted to owners of property who pay dues/arrears towards their property tax within 45 days of the rates being notified.
=> Rebate of 10% is allowed to those property taxpayers who pay their total tax for the assessment year by 31st July of that year.
=> All buildings and lands attached to religious institutions like Gurudwara, temple, church or mosque are exempted from paying property tax.
=> 50% rebate given to State Government buildings, the buildings belonging to corporations/boards/ autonomous bodies or Undertakings being exceptions.

How do I pay property tax online in Gurgaon?

=> Go to the official website of the Municipal Corporation
=> Then, click on the property tax tab
=> Type the unique ID of your property or locality in which the property is located, then the name of the owner and the address of the property where located.
=> On the subsequent screen the details like tax amount etc. Will be displayed
=> After checking the amount, Click on the Pay tab to make the payment online through Credit/debit card, net banking
