A home loan cannot be transferred from one individual to another. The borrower is the person who has taken out the loan, and the lender has assessed his or her creditworthiness before granting the loan. The lender would not allow the loan to be transferred to someone who had not been evaluated. However, if the borrower dies, the loan can be transferred to the legal heirs or co-borrower after certain conditions are met according to the lender policies. In such cases, the transferee must go through the credit evaluation and documentation process again.
