In Maharashtra, Aurangabad is one of India’s expansive western urban agglomerations. Smart City Aurangabad’s fundamental motive is to develop the city with the convergence of Rapid Modernisation and Traditional Cultural Heritage. All About Smart City Aurangabad Mission

Smart City Aurangabad is a publicly sponsored scheme by the Central Government with a budget of Rs. 48,000 Cr. for five years of planning and implementation. On average, this mission ranges to Rs. 100 Cr. investment annually. Including this, a certain budget from the state government or ULBs is also expected. Involvement of other stakeholders, such as ULB’s self-owned funds, private firms’ engagement through Public-Private Partnership programmes and Municipal Bonds will also play a vital role. 

Considering the cumulative project numbers, Aurangabad Smart City is just a part of 5,000 projects, having Rs 2,00,000 Cr. In this, 45% of the investment will be done via Mission Grants, 21% from PPP, 21% from confluences, and the remaining will be outsourced from other sources.

• The main objective of the mission is to promote cities to provide core infrastructure and flourished technical orientations within the city. 
• To establish a clean and sustainable environment for a decent quality of life for their citizens through the offered services on the Smart City Aurangabad portal as ‘smart solutions’. 
• The Mission aims to drive economic growth and improve quality of life through comprehensive work on the city’s social, economic, physical, and institutional pillars. 
• The focus is on sustainable and inclusive development through the creation of replicable models which act as lighthouses to other aspiring cities. 
• The ultimate goal of the Smart Cities Mission is to remove the gap between underdeveloped and developed cities in India by strengthening the investment sectors with multiple opportunities.
