Amrit Sarovar, the sacred water tank in the centre of the Golden Temple, inspired the name Amritsar, which translates as "pool of nectar." Due to the Golden Temple, also known as the Harmandir Sahib, which serves as the Sikhs' primary place of worship and draws pilgrims from all over the world, the city is well known as the birthplace of Sikhism. The holy city was established in 1577 by Guru Ram Das and is located in Punjab, a state in Northwestern India, rich in culture. Smart City Amritsar Proposal
There are typically 1 lakh tourists who come to Amritsar each day because it is a historic and holy city. The public brought up various concerns about government as well as municipal services during the citizen consultation process. The issues were then compiled, examined, and prioritised based on the highest number of responses. Three pan-city smart solutions have been chosen for implementation across the city in response to citizens' concerns and opinions.
Traffic & Mobility
ICT-based platforms for seamless urban mobility. The main objective is to increase the proportion of public transportation while maintaining an equal and fair road distribution for vehicles, bicycle lanes, and pedestrians. It will be incorporated with the city of Amritsar's existing and planned transportation networks and systems.
Intelligent Solid Waste Management
An ICT-enabled system will be used for intelligent solid waste management. Collection, transportation, landfill management, and waste-to-energy conversion will all benefit from intelligent solutions. Through mobile apps that facilitate grievance reporting and redress, citizen services will be improved.
Management of City Utilities Using ICT and E-Government
bringing all government services together on a single digital platform. Amritsar city will receive smart solutions from a variety of sensors, video camera-based inputs, and application systems to enhance operations and optimise service delivery to residents and visitors for a positive experience.

Amritsar Smart City project aims to facilitate the city by

- Primary focus on the technology that leads to Smart Outcomes.
It is possible to promote economic growth and enhance people's quality of life.
Area-based development will retrofit and redevelop existing areas, including slum dwellings, into better-organised ones, enhancing the overall livability of the city. Seven cities will have new neighbourhoods (Greenfield) built around them to accommodate the growing urban population. By implementing smart solutions, cities will be able to use information, data, and technology to enhance their infrastructure and services for everyday use. This comprehensive development will raise incomes, improve employment opportunities, and improve the quality of life for everyone, especially the poor and disadvantaged, resulting in inclusive cities.
