Vastu Shastra advises that the mandir, or prayer room, be placed in the northeastern corner of the home. This is regarded as the most auspicious direction and is linked to happiness, good fortune, and health. Make sure the mandir is spotless, uncluttered, well-lit, and clear of cobwebs and dust. Along with facing east or north, the mandir should also include idols or images of the gods set up at a convenient height for worship.
