Positives: I was there at Goregaon East for a brief assignment, and I soon understood why everyone wants to live there. For a city like Mumbai, the best part was the fantastic connectivity. The locality has the railway station and access to the Western Express Highway made my city travels surprisingly quick. Throw in the plus of the Oberoi Mall and decent local hospitals, and I felt that I had everything on my doorstep that I could possibly need. Negatives: However, the rapid development definitely had its drawbacks, which made me happy it was a temporary stay. Three things stand out: the traffic snarls near the highway entrance were truly frustrating during my daily commute. Also, the rental prices were shockingly high. Another thing is, during the monsoon, the waterlogging and potholes on the internal roads are a real challenge.

Positives: Connectivity is great here Western Express Highway, Goregaon railway station, and Metro make travel quicky. There are a lot of business areas around such as Nesco IT Park and Infinity. Social infrastructure is good, good schools, malls such as Oberoi Mall, and hospitals are within easy reach. Also, you aren not too far away from green areas such as Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Aarey, which provides a more peaceful environment. Negatives: Waterlogging and potholes are a major issue on most roads during monsoon season. In addition, noise and air pollution are also high due to heavy traffic, highways, and road construction. Rents and property prices are going up quickly, so affordability is an issue.

Positives: Beginning anew in Mumbai is frenetic, and Goregaon East is just the right, crazy middle ground. I've been renting here for a little while now, and I absolutely adore the location. The best part is the connectivity: having the railway station and the Western Express Highway right at the doorstep is optimum when it comes to mobility. And having the huge green plot of Aarey Colony just around the corner is lovely after the concrete jungle. Negatives: However, the high life comes with a hefty price tag. The rent here is incredibly steep, easily one of the highest I’ve paid. The constant, deafening noise and pollution from the huge traffic jams on the highway are hard to ignore. Also, the older residential pockets have poor sanitation and garbage disposal, and waterlogging during the monsoon is a frequent menace.
