Here is a step by step explanation to make it easier to understand: It is the responsibility of the Chandigarh Administration to ensure that lands are allotted to the CHD Board within intervals of time, mainly based on availability. To take part in the lottery they are asked to pick up the forms, deposit a token amount and then take part in it. A few names are selected based on the lottery of the first round. Once that is complete, the refund of the other applicants is carried out effectively. After the second round, the final names are selected and they are allocated flats in the project which they can purchase at affordable and pocket-friendly rates. This entire detailed functioning of the board is carried out based on the provisions of the Chandigarh Housing Board (Allotment, Management & Sale of Tenements) Regulations, 1979. An interesting point to note: Talking about Acts, Chandigarh was not always a union territory on its own. So, previously it was all covered under the Haryana Housing Board Act, 1971. It was only in 1976 that the current administrative board came into existence and the clauses were modified to make room for the Chandigarh Housing Board (Allotment, Management & Sale of Tenements) Regulations, 1979. What are the new provisions, eligibility criteria and details of the scheme, if any? What are the details that you need to know about it? Well, to begin with, according to this new scheme, it will be constructing 600 apartments, so that people who apply and are eligible they will get a fair chance of securing a flat for themselves. This will help in ensuring that everyone gets the house that they desire. Now, this brings us to the question about eligibility. Who all will be eligible? Let’s take a look: The applicant has to be an Indian citizen by birth, who might or might not be a resident of this country. The applicant has to be above 18 years of age. The wife/husband or children of the applicant cannot own property to their name in Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. The applicant must be bona fide resident of the union territory of Chandigarh.   All the eligibility clauses come with their sub-clauses as well which need to be reviewed carefully before applying under the Chandigarh Housing Board flats schemes. Now, this brings us to another important question – how can we apply for this scheme? The process can be carried out, both online and offline. For the online process, you will have to visit the official website of the Board and fill out the application form, under whatever section applicable - Chandigarh Housing Board flats Sector 53 or others. Once that is done, you will need to fill out the form and submit it along with the soft copies of the relevant documents. Notifications are generally sent out before the release of these forms. For the offline process, you will have to collect the form from the housing board office and then fill it out and submit it with the required authentic documents. The documents that are required for both the online and offline application process are: Photocopy of PAN card Copy of original Income Certificate Photocopy of Election ID/ Driving license/ Aadhar card/ Passport Photocopy of Birth certificate  FAQs  Q1. What kind of projects does the Chandigarh Housing Board undertake?  Ans. The board undertakes both residential and commercial projects.  Q2. Do different rules apply to different sectors?  Ans. No, not wholly. However, there might be slight variations and hence it is best to check out the Chandigarh Housing Board Sector 63 if you wish to apply in this sector or any other before you apply.   Q3. What is the general price range of flats under this scheme?  Ans. Flats that are to be built for the LIG will cost around 95lacs, those for MIGs will be around 1.47cr and those for HIGs will be 1.8cr.
