The Katraj flyover in Pune is now targeted for completion by December 2026, according to the National Highways Authority of India. The six-lane flyover at Katraj Junction will link the Katraj Kondhwa Road with the Bengaluru-Mumbai bypass. It is expected to give highway traffic a smoother route towards the Pune-Mumbai and Pune-Satara corridors. The wider Katraj Kondhwa Road project has a separate deadline of March 2027 for its 50-meter widening work.
Katraj Flyover completion date and latest status
The latest Katraj Flyover Completion Date is December 2026. NHAI Executive Engineer Shruti Naik gave the latest target during a recent review of the Katraj Kondhwa Road and Katraj Junction flyover.
The deadline is a revision from the earlier schedule. A December 2025 reply from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had listed June 2026 as the target for the six-lane flyover at Katraj Junction. The project has therefore moved beyond its earlier target and is now being pushed towards the end of 2026.
PMC and NHAI officials inspected the site in September and reviewed the remaining work. The review also covered the wider road project, including land acquisition and work needed around the grade separator.
Katraj Flyover plan and route
The Katraj flyover is a six-lane structure being built at Katraj Junction on NH 548DD. Government records place the project at about km 3/880 of the Vadgaon Katraj Kondhwa Mantarwadi Chowk Loni Kalbhor Theur Phata Lonikand road.
The main purpose of the Katraj flyover plan is to create a smoother link between the Katraj Kondhwa Road and the Bengaluru-Mumbai bypass. This will help traffic approaching from the Pune-Solapur side move towards the Pune-Mumbai and Pune-Satara highway corridors without having to pass through the inner parts of Pune.
NH 548DD is important to this plan because it forms a wider road link through Katraj, Kondhwa, Undri, Mantarwadi, Loni Kalbhor and other parts of Pune’s eastern road network. The flyover is therefore being developed as part of a larger highway connection rather than as an isolated city flyover.
How the Katraj Kondhwa Flyover will improve highway connectivity
The Katraj Kondhwa flyover is expected to change how highway traffic moves through this part of Pune. At present, Katraj Kondhwa Road carries both local traffic and vehicles heading towards areas such as Saswad and Solapur. The narrow road has faced congestion for years. The new flyover will provide a direct connection between the road and the Bengaluru-Mumbai bypass at Katraj Junction.
For vehicles traveling from the Pune-Solapur National Highway, the planned connection will make it easier to reach the Pune-Mumbai and Pune-Satara highway corridors without entering the city. This could reduce pressure on surface roads around Katraj and improve movement for longer-distance traffic.
The project also sits within a wider network of national highways around Pune. NH 548DD connects the Katraj side with the eastern parts of the metropolitan region, making the junction an important point for traffic moving between local roads and major highway routes.
Katraj Flyover and Katraj Kondhwa Road have separate timelines
The Katraj flyover and the wider Katraj Kondhwa Road project are linked, but they are not the same work:

December 202650-meter |
|
r Katraj Kondhwa Road widening |
March 2027 |

The PMC has set March 2027 as the target for completing and opening the 50 metre wide Katraj Kondhwa Road. The civic body has also set March 2028 as the target for completing land acquisition linked to the proposed 84 metre road development.
The September inspection found that 10 properties required for the road development had not been included in the earlier acquisition process. Officials were asked to speed up discussions with property owners and make the required land available. Electricity poles and transformers also need to be removed from locations that could affect grade separator work. This means the December 2026 flyover target should not be confused with the completion of the entire Katraj Kondhwa corridor.
Real estate impact and areas to watch
Better road access could also influence residential demand around the Katraj Kondhwa corridor. The areas most closely linked to the project include Katraj, Kondhwa, Undri, Mohammed Wadi and NIBM.
Katraj is likely to see the most direct connectivity benefit because the flyover is located at Katraj Junction. Kondhwa is also important because the Katraj Kondhwa Road forms the main local link covered by the wider project.
Undri and Mohammed Wadi sit along the broader southern Pune growth corridor and could gain from smoother movement towards Katraj and the highway network. NIBM and nearby residential pockets may also benefit from better road access towards Katraj and Kondhwa.
The impact on property values will depend on several factors, including actual traffic movement after the flyover opens, the progress of the wider road widening, and overall housing demand. The infrastructure improvement alone does not establish a guaranteed rise in property prices.
For homebuyers and investors, the more immediate factor to watch is accessibility. Areas that depend on Katraj Kondhwa Road for daily travel could become more attractive if congestion eases and highway access improves.
What the Katraj Flyover means for Pune’s wider road network
The Katraj project is part of a broader effort to improve road movement across southern and eastern Pune. The planned flyover will connect Katraj Kondhwa Road with the Bengaluru-Mumbai bypass, while the wider road project is aimed at improving movement along the 3.5 km Katraj Kondhwa stretch. PMC is also planning a separate 9 km road extension from Khadi Machine Chowk to Wadki Chowk. The proposed extension is intended to create another link between the Mumbai-Satara and Solapur highway corridors. For now, the key milestone is the December 2026 Katraj Flyover completion target. The larger road network will take longer, with the 50 metre Katraj Kondhwa widening targeted for March 2027 and further road development planned beyond that.
