About Andheri West, Mumbai

Andheri West is one of Mumbai’s primary residential areas and is mainly residential as compared to its eastern neighbour. Demand for property in Andheri West has increased immensely over the years, and there are several luxury and super luxury projects in the area that are led by prominent builders like Godrej, Kabra, Adani Group, K Raheja, and Oberoi, among others. There are several new and under construction projects available in the area, while 2 and 3 BHK living units are predominant. Andheri Railway Station is the main connectivity lifeline for residents, and the expansion of the metrorail network as part of the Andheri-Ghatkopar-Versova corridor has boosted inter-connectivity immensely. The Mumbai metro network will connect the area to the eastern suburbs. The area lies in close proximity to Jogeshwari, Malad Creek, Goregaon, and the BMC Road. SEEPZ, MIDC, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Terminal are also located within close range of the locality. Even though it is mainly residential, Andheri West is home to some of Mumbai and India’s biggest entertainment and media houses, like Balaji Telefilms, Yash Raj Films, etc. Andheri West is a large and developed residential and commercial suburb. The locality includes several prominent areas, including the Lokhandwala Complex, Versova, Seven Bungalows, and Four Bungalows.

What’s Great / What’s Not Great about Locality
  • The area has a well-connected road network along with an extensive connection of railways and very good connectivity to all parts of the city.
  • The problem of heavy traffic and water logging in the monsoon months is one of the problems residents face here.
  • The locality is a peaceful locality and it has a nearby Azad Nagar Metro Station off J P road. It is well connected to the east-west flyover.

The locality has widespread and extensive connectivity through Link Road, SV Road, the Western Express Highway, Andheri Railway Station, and the BEST Bus Network. It also has east-west metro connectivity through the operational Line 1 connecting Versova, Andheri, and Ghatkopar. Additionally, the under-construction Line 2 (Dahisar - Mandale), would further boost metro connectivity to the areas to its north and east. Due to its proximity to well connected roads and the availability of all kinds of basic amenities, the area has a high livability index. Availability of excellent connectivity, quality social infrastructure, and presence of various commercial units makes Andheri West a sought-after real estate location. Andheri West has a number of multi-storey apartment projects along with several co-operative housing societies. Some of the main residential projects by reputed developers in the locality include Oberoi Springs, HDIL Metropolis, Adani Western Heights, etc. The locality is situated alongside Andheri East, a marked  commercial hub of Mumbai, and encompasses several industrial and commercial complexes. Positives: The connectivity in this location is wonderful Andheri Railway Station, Versova Metro, and Western Express Highway are close by. The locality is filled with some of the best schools in town such as Ryan Global and St. Louis Convent, and some of the best hospitals such as Kokilaben and Seven Hills in proximity. Infinity Mall, Citi Mall, and Versova Beach within a short driving distance. The Oberoi, Adani, and Godrej residential developments provide luxurious living in a quiet neighborhood. Negatives: On the negative side, traffic gets horrible during rush hours, and monsoon waterlogging happens. Some roads also require good maintenance. All in all, I give Andheri West 5 stars it's really a nice place to stay.

Positives: I like the blend of beach, markets and urban life. I like convenient travel from Andheri railway station and Versova–Ghatkopar metro line, which makes east–west journeys a lot quicker. Lokhandwala market, Versova Beach, restaurants, malls and movie studios are nearby, so nights out and shopping are convenient. Good schools and hospitals are within short drives, and new residential towers maintain the area clean. Negatives: Two negatives I experience are heavy traffic and tight parking during peak hours, and frequent monsoon waterlogging that occasionally shuts the Andheri subway. Otherwise, I am safe and content here. The area is vibrant, convenient and friendly. I suggest Andheri West to young professionals and young families looking for city zest with easy weekend choices within reach.

Positives: Nothing much to complain about while staying here. The area is very posh, and property rates have gone up tremendously in the last few years. Also, don’t forget, the area includes the prime Lokhandwala Complex and also Versova. You can visit the beach and enjoy the pristine ambience. Lots of markets and shopping options, along with cafes, restaurants, clinics, etc. Many film and television stars also stay here, adding to the glamor value of the neighborhood. WEH and SV Road are nearby, and the airport is also quite nearby. Gokhale Road reconstruction has been a positive thing for the locality. Negatives: Nothing that I can find. The only thing is that some market areas are crowded in the peak evening hours.

Positives: I love living in Andheri West. I’m an owner here and honestly it’s hard to beat the connectivity and energy. The metro, local trains and easy access to the Western Express Highway make commuting simple, and the airport is just a short drive away, which is super convenient. The neighbourhood is filled with good schools, hospitals, shopping malls, restaurants and gyms, so all that I require is within easy reach and the social scene is active and diverse. Negatives: If I had to choose one negative, it's parking and traffic; rush hour is a nightmare and parking is costly or unavailable. Nevertheless, for work, lifestyle and long-term investment, this site receives a five-star from me.

Positives: I have been an owner here for a while now and have to say, it's the best of both worlds. The social life is alive with great cafes, restaurants, and shopping places in Lokhandwala. The metro and local train connectivity is just top class, and it makes it so convenient to get anywhere in the city for work or play. We' have got everything we need all here, from schools to hospitals, and there's that community feel. Negatives: The are has extremely little downside. It is quite expensive to live there, even the everyday things cost more in comparison to the rest of Mumbai.

Positives: Being an agent, I have traveled a lot of places, and to be frank, Andheri West stands in a class of its own. The connectivity is just amazing with Metro Line 1, the railway station, and Link Road, and traveling around Mumbai is a piece of cake. The place is a total social hub with the best schools, hospitals, malls, and terrific nightlife. It's an appropriate blend of residential serenity and an actually lively, city atmosphere. I adore this neighborhood and I rate this neighborhood 5-star. Negatives: My only issue is the exorbitant cost of property. The prices here are somewhat steep and can make it difficult for some individuals to acquire a piece of property.
