CHD Housing Board-Establishment

The Chandigarh Board, under the Chandigarh Administration, had been formed in 1976 under the Haryana Housing Board Act, 1971, applied to Union Territory of Chandigarh. The main purpose is to build reasonably priced Chandigarh Govt Housing Board Flats of good quality to the shelter less persons living within the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Right from the beginning, the Board has focused upon the construction and allocation of houses to the less well-off sections of society on a system of hire-purchase. Until March 2019, the Chandigarh Govt Board has built 67565 houses of different categories.  It has been approximated, that about 25% of Chandigarh’s population is living in CHB allotted houses. The functioning of the Board

The functioning of the Board is according to the Chandigarh Housing Board Regulations, 1979. The land for construction of houses/flats is allotted to the Board by the Chandigarh Administration. The housing schemes are launched by the Board and applications are invited from the common public as well as different Reserved Categories. After inspection of applications, the draw of lots is done for registration of the allottees and allocation of houses. Refunds of deposits of unsuccessful applicants are made thereafter. For the Economically Weaker Sections of society there is also Chandigarh Housing Board Affordable Housing.

UT Employees Self Financing Housing Scheme

C.H.B introduced the Self-Financing Housing scheme 2008 as per the directions of Chandigarh Administration for the UT Government Employees on a leasehold basis. The applications were invited on 14.01.2008. The draw of the lot was held on 4.11.2010 and 3930 applicants were declared eligible (252) for Three Bed Room flats, 168 for Two Bed Room flats, & 444 for One Room flats.

What is Chandigarh Housing Board's Latest news?

The C.H.B in its board meeting decided to scrap its Sector 53 expensive all-purpose housing scheme in lieu of the poor response from the applicants. The board has decided to refund the processing fee of all applicants and plan the scheme afresh for making it further reasonably priced for the Chandigarh residents. CHB CEO said the board will move the UT administration for enhancing the FAR for the purpose of the scheme. It will aid the construction of additional flats and prepare a new scheme with less cost per flat.

What is Chandigarh Housing Board Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana List?

Eligibility Criteria under C.H.B Schemes Scheme 2020:
The criteria of eligibility for applying under housing board schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chandigarh have not changed since 2017. For being an applicant, you must bypass all the below-mentioned entitlement.
The applicant should be a citizen of India or an Indian living overseas.

The applicant must be over 18 years of age by the date, the CHD housing board scheme is to be opened to the public.
The applicant must also be a bona fide resident of the Chandigarh Union Territory.

The applicant or her husband/his wife or any of her/his minor children should not own a residential house or plot located within Mohali, Panchkula or Chandigarh.

For those applicants, who have a personal share in land owned together or a plot measuring below 83.6 square meters, can apply for all available housing schemes under the Housing Board.
Applicants who approach the C.H.B scheme by demand survey shall be given the uppermost preference under the scheme.
Being a bona fide resident of Chandigarh is not mandatory for applicants who serving the country as defense personnel/ retired pensioners or family pensioners of the defense forces personnel/ the employees working under the State government of Punjab/ Haryana and Chandigarh administration and the respected corporations and boards as well.
