Namma Metro’s Pink Line has received safety clearance for its 7.5-km elevated section between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere, following routine statutory inspections and technical checks. The elevated stretch has six stations and runs along the Bannerghatta Road corridor in south Bengaluru. The complete 21-km Pink Line will connect Kalena Agrahara in the south with Nagawara in the north through an elevated section and an underground corridor, creating a new north-south route through central Bengaluru.
Namma Metro Pink Line: Key highlights
The Pink Line is a major addition to Bengaluru’s metro network because it combines a southern elevated corridor with an underground route through the central business district and northern parts of the city. While the elevated section is nearing passenger operations, the underground stretch remains under development, with trials expected later in 2026.

Namma Metro Pink Line connectivity advantages
The elevated stretch will serve Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM Bangalore, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere. These stations cover residential areas along Bannerghatta Road, including parts of Gottigere, Arekere, Bilekahalli, JP Nagar and BTM Layout. The corridor offers an alternative to road journeys along a route where traffic congestion can make daily travel unpredictable.
For residents of Hulimavu and Arekere, the line will provide a direct metro connection towards central Bengaluru once the full corridor opens. Students and staff traveling to IIMB will also gain a station near the campus. The Jayadeva Hospital station will be useful for patients, hospital employees and visitors who currently rely on road transport or connecting public transport services.
Further north, the underground corridor will serve Dairy Circle, Lakkasandra, Langford Town, National Military School, MG Road, Shivajinagar, Cantonment, Pottery Town, Tannery Road, Venkateshpura, Kadugondanahalli and Nagawara. The route connects established central districts with densely populated areas in the north-east, reducing the need for commuters to cross the city entirely by road. Shivajinagar’s bus facilities and Cantonment railway station will also extend the corridor’s usefulness beyond metro-to-metro journeys.
Interchanges on the Namma Metro Pink Line
The Pink Line’s importance extends beyond its north-south route because it will connect with other metro corridors at key locations. At Jayadeva Hospital, passengers can change to the Yellow Line, which connects RV Road with Bommasandra through BTM Layout and Electronic City. This interchange will link southern residential areas with the city’s major industrial and technology employment belt without requiring a road journey to another interchange station.
At MG Road, the Pink Line will meet the operational Purple Line, which runs between Whitefield and Challaghatta. This connection will make the central business district a transfer point for commuters traveling between southern Bengaluru, the eastern IT corridor and western parts of the city.
Nagawara is planned as an interchange with the Blue Line, which will connect the Outer Ring Road corridor with Kempegowda International Airport. This will eventually improve access between the airport route and areas served by the Pink Line. JP Nagar 4th Phase is also planned to connect with the proposed Orange Line under Metro Phase 3.
Interchange stations at a glance:
- Jayadeva Hospital → Yellow Line (RV Road-Bommasandra)
- MG Road → Purple Line (Whitefield-Challaghatta)
- Nagawara → Blue Line (Outer Ring Road-Kempegowda International Airport)
- JP Nagar 4th Phase → Proposed Orange Line (Metro Phase 3)

The Namma Metro Pink Line passes through several distinct property markets, so its impact is likely to vary by location. Along Bannerghatta Road, areas such as Hulimavu, Arekere and Bilekahalli have seen residential development alongside hospitals, educational institutions, retail outlets and local commercial activity. Metro access could make these areas more convenient for residents traveling to central Bengaluru and make properties more attractive to buyers who rely on road transport for daily travel. The line will give residents an additional public transport option along an already busy residential corridor.
JP Nagar and BTM Layout have more established residential markets, supported by shopping streets, educational institutions and local services. Properties within convenient reach of JP Nagar 4th Phase and Jayadeva Hospital stations could benefit from improved access to the Yellow Line and, eventually, the wider metro network.
The central stretch presents a different opportunity. Around Langford Town, Lakkasandra and Richmond Town, the property market includes older independent houses, established apartment buildings and commercial premises in built-up urban areas. Underground construction allows the metro to cross these districts without the elevated structures that can alter street-level surroundings. Direct access to MG Road could strengthen the appeal of centrally located properties for businesses and residents who value proximity to commercial offices, retail streets and established city services.
In Shivajinagar and the areas around Cantonment, the line serves dense urban districts. Improved access could support shops, offices and other businesses that depend on customers and employees traveling from different parts of Bengaluru. At the northern end, Nagawara connects the Pink Line’s urban corridor with an area shaped by urban growth towards Thanisandra and Hennur Road. The future Blue Line interchange could strengthen this location’s role as a transport hub, particularly for commuters traveling between northern Bengaluru and the Outer Ring Road office belt.
