The Sewri-Worli Elevated Corridor, which will connect Sewri in the east with Worli in the west of Mumbai, is now scheduled for completion by May 31, 2027. This decision comes following delays at the Elphinstone Road section of the corridor. The 4.5-km elevated road is designed to connect Atal Setu at Sewri with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the Mumbai Coastal Road, creating a direct east-west road link across central Mumbai. The four-lane corridor is expected to cut down east-west travel time from over an hour to around ten minutes. It is also planned as a key traffic dispersal route for vehicles entering Mumbai through Atal Setu, linking the eastern harbour side with the western and southern parts of the city.
Sewri-Worli corridor to strengthen east-west connectivity
The Sewri-Worli Elevated Corridor will run from Sewri through central Mumbai to Worli, crossing key stretches around Parel, Elphinstone Road, and Prabhadevi. The four-lane corridor is about 4.5 km long and forms part of the traffic dispersal system planned around Atal Setu. At the Elphinstone Road section, the elevated structure will form the upper deck of a new double-decker bridge, with the lower deck serving local road traffic between Parel and Prabhadevi.
It will provide a road link between the Atal Setu on the eastern side and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Coastal Road on the western side. Atal Setu already links Sewri with Chirle in Navi Mumbai, cutting the Sewri-Chirle journey to under 20 minutes. The Sewri-Worli corridor will extend that network westwards towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Coastal Road, allowing traffic from Navi Mumbai to reach western and southern parts of Mumbai without relying on existing north-south routes through the island city. The wider road network around Atal Setu also provides access towards Thane through the Eastern Freeway, Eastern Express Highway and Thane-Belapur Road, strengthening links between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.
The surrounding infrastructure network adds to the corridor’s significance. Atal Setu provides the eastern connection to Navi Mumbai, while the Coastal Road provides a high-capacity route along Mumbai’s western coastline. Metro Line 3 adds a separate mass-transit connection through Worli, Dadar and other central Mumbai locations, with its 33.5-km corridor linking Aarey to Cuffe Parade.
Real estate impact across Sewri, Parel, Prabhadevi and Worli
Sewri has the most visible development potential along the eastern end. Sewri is shifting from an industrial and port area to a premium residential market, with new housing projects being developed on large land parcels. The locality is also benefiting from the combination of Atal Setu and new residential supply. The Sewri-Worli corridor will improve Sewri’s road access to central Mumbai, including Parel, Prabhadevi and Worli, where the locality’s new residential projects will have stronger road connectivity.
Navi Mumbai connectivity is another important factor for Sewri’s real estate market. Atal Setu provides a direct road connection between Sewri and Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai, improving access to key areas such as Ulwe, Panvel and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. The link also connects Mumbai with the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the wider road network in Navi Mumbai, giving Sewri residents access to major employment and commercial centres across the harbour.
Parel is already a high-value central Mumbai residential market with a strong redevelopment pipeline. The double-decker section through Parel and Prabhadevi will improve road access in the area, which is seeing more premium redevelopment and high-density housing.

Prabhadevi sits at a more mature stage of this transition. Older low-rise structures around Elphinstone Road are being replaced by high-rise residential buildings, while the locality already commands premium housing values. The project will strengthen Prabhadevi as a high-value residential district rather than creating an entirely new market there.
At the western end, Worli represents the corridor’s most expensive residential market. The locality has become a national centre for ultra-luxury housing. For Worli, the benefit is more about strengthening its position as a premium address with access to Mumbai’s major employment, coastal and regional transport networks. The Sewri-Worli corridor, alongside the Coastal Road, Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Metro Line 3, adds another layer to an already infrastructure-rich locality.
