Hoskote is moving closer to getting a direct Metro link with Bengaluru after the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) began preparing a detailed project report for a proposed 17-km corridor between K.R. Pura and Hoskote. The latest proposal comes as the government pushes for the extension, alongside the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) and proposed high-speed rail projects around Hoskote. The Metro is planned along the Old Madras Road corridor toward Hoskote, aiming to add a mass-transit connection to one of Bengaluru’s fastest-developing eastern corridors.
Hoskote metro: Route and connectivity
The proposed Metro would extend eastward from K.R. Pura to Hoskote for about 17 km. The alignment is being examined along Old Madras Road, which continues as the Kolar Highway and NH-75 towards Hoskote. Key locations along the route will include K.R. Pura, ITI Bhavan, TC Palya Gate, Battarahalli Junction, Medahalli Junction, Avalahalli, Budigere Cross, Kattamanalur Gate, Hoskote toll plaza, KEB Circle and Government Hospital in Hoskote. The corridor would connect Hoskote directly to K.R. Pura rather than making residents rely on road transport to reach the existing Metro network, with K.R. Pura serving as the starting point.
This would allow passengers from Hoskote to enter the operational Purple Line at K.R. Pura and travel towards key eastern and central Bengaluru destinations. The Purple Line runs through Mahadevapura and Whitefield in the east and continues through several established employment and commercial areas towards the city centre and western Bengaluru.
K.R. Pura is also important to the wider Metro network because the under-construction Blue Line will pass through the area. The Blue Line is planned to connect Silk Board with Kempegowda International Airport through K.R. Pura and Hebbal. BMRCL has maintained a 2027 completion timeline for the full airport corridor. Once operational, the K.R. Pura interchange would therefore place the proposed Hoskote line within a larger Metro network serving Whitefield, central Bengaluru, the Outer Ring Road employment belt and the airport corridor.
Hoskote’s wider infrastructure network
Hoskote already sits at the intersection of several major road corridors, with various other public infrastructure projects being planned in the vicinity. The Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway is the most prominent completed addition. The Hoskote-KGF section in Karnataka is operational, and around 100 km of the expressway towards Baireddipalle in Andhra Pradesh is currently open. The full 263-km Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway is expected to be completed in phases, with the remaining sections in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu still progressing.
An operational 83-km section of the STRR connects Dabaspet with Hoskote through Doddaballapur and Devanahalli. At Hoskote, the STRR connects with the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, giving the town road links to northern Bengaluru, Devanahalli, and the western satellite-town belt. Furthermore, it also provides the onward route to Kolar, Andhra Pradesh, and Chennai.
Kodihalli near Hoskote has been identified for an integrated high-speed rail station serving the proposed Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru-Hyderabad corridors. The Bengaluru-Chennai corridor is planned to connect Hoskote-area Kodihalli with Kolar and Bengaluru, while the Bengaluru-Hyderabad corridor is proposed to run through Kodihalli and Devanahalli before continuing towards Hyderabad.
The proposed Metro would complement these road and high-speed rail projects by adding a direct urban transit connection between Hoskote and K.R. Pura. While the STRR and Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway improve road links to Devanahalli, Kolar and other peripheral areas, the Metro would provide a public transport link into Bengaluru and connect with the wider Metro network towards Whitefield, central Bengaluru and the airport corridor.
Hoskote is also being considered for transport-oriented development, with around 80 hectares proposed for transport-related infrastructure. At the same time, the state government has proposed a 500-MW data centre park near Hoskote, adding an employment and technology-related component to the area’s infrastructure pipeline.
What the infrastructure pipeline means for Hoskote real estate
Hoskote’s property market is growing across residential, logistics and industrial segments, making the Metro relevant beyond residential connectivity.
The Hoskote-Soukya cluster has emerged as an important warehousing location, with more than 7 million sq ft of Grade-A warehouse stock. Additional land acquisitions by logistics developers indicate continued demand from third-party logistics, retail, FMCG and related occupiers.

Hoskote’s industrial and logistics activity makes its real estate market different from more established residential areas such as Whitefield. Housing demand is developing alongside employment-generating uses, warehousing and highway-oriented commercial activity.
The Metro could support residential development in Hoskote and along the Old Madras Road corridor by improving access to Bengaluru. Areas identified along the proposed alignment, particularly Medahalli, Avalahalli, Budigere Cross and the Hoskote end of the corridor, could see greater attention.
