Vashi is located across the Thane Creek off the Arabian Sea.Vashi is one of the first major nodes developed by the CIDCO (City and Industrial Development Corporation) in the Navi Mumbai township. Vashi is divided into 30 sectors and Sectors 1-8 contain several residential buildings while Sectors 9-29 contain educational, residential and commercial institutions. Sector 17 is home to a major shopping, commercial and residential zone while Sector 30 is home to several IT Parks, shopping malls, an exhibition centre, railway station and 5 star hotels. The shopping malls include the Inorbit Mall, Center One, Raghuleela Arcade, City Center, APMC market and Satra Plaza. There are several hospitals in the area including the NMMC Hospital, Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Lakshdeep Hospital and the Mahatma Gandhi Mission. Leading hotels include the Royal Orchid Central Grazia, Fortune Select Exotica, Four Points by Sheraton, The Tunga Regency, Days Inn, Discover Resorts and the Abbot Hotel to name a few.Vashi is home to several roadside plantations and streets. Vashi also offers uninterrupted and smooth electricity and water supply for residents. The NMMC carries out several health and cleanliness drives in public for taking care of the health of citizens. Vashi is home to several banks, retail outlets, restaurants, businesses, offices and clinics. Vashi lies near the proposed international airport near Panvel. Traveling from Vashi to Mumbai takes approximately 50 minutes by train from the railway station as part of the Harbor Line. There are railway options from Wadala Road and Dadar. The Trans Harbor railway line links Thane to Vashi while the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is also well connected to the area. Long distance trains go till CST, Panvel, Bandra, LTT Kurla and Mumbai Central among other zones.The Sion-Panvel Highway and the intersect at the Sector 17 in Vashi while the Eastern Freeway has cut down commuting time to just 30 minutes till South Mumbai. There are public transport facilities all throughout Vashi and there are two major bus depots as well. There is a lot of traffic movement on the Vashi-Kopar Khairane Road and also till the Thane-Belapur Industrial Belt. The planned monorail and metro networks will also boost connectivity in Vashi. The BEST bus network is highly active in Vashi and the area is also home to several playgrounds and sporting clubs as well. Property prices have gone up by approximately 7.1% in the area as per Q3 2015 and average prices stand at around INR 11, 300 per sq. ft. for the same period here. Popular projects include Arihant Sparsh and Progressive Group Viva to name a few.
