Allahabad West, Allahabad

The constituency of Allahabad West is one among the 403 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and it is an important seat of power in the region. Presently it comprises of the wards of Numbers 1, 3, 8, 13, 16, 19, 29 and 49 among others and quite a few plans are in place for the improvement of the region. Allahabad is known for its vivacity and it is definitely one of the top most populous cities in the entire country. The city has always enjoyed a great eminence right from ancient times and even today its importance has not diminished. Allahabad is predominantly known as the site of Kumbh Mela by the Tribeni Sangam, where the three rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the invisible Saraswati meet but today it has visitors round the year because of the number of folk music festivals held here. It is an important center for the practice of Hindustani classical music as well and hosts regular programs which are attended by many foreign dignitaries as well. The Allahabad Agricultural Institute is one of the topmost agricultural institutes in the entire country and the Vividh Bharati and Doordarshan Kendra in the city caters to a wide audience. There are also a number of sports academy located here which also promote local sports.
