The Bhopal Metro Project is progressing with the commencement of underground tunnel construction, marking a significant milestone. The use of an advanced Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is expected to expedite the process and ensure precision in densely populated urban areas. This development is key to establishing a modern and sustainable public transportation system.

Bhopal is undergoing significant infrastructure development, aiming to become a full-fledged metropolitan city. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that metro train services are expected to commence by October 2025. Phase 2 construction of the Bhopal Metro, a 15 km stretch from Bhadbhada Square to Ratnagiri Intersection with 14 elevated stations, is expected to begin by early February 2025 and take 24-36 months to complete, with the government aiming to complete both phases before the 2028 elections. The state budget for 2025-26 allocates Rs 850 crore for metro projects in Bhopal and Indore. Additionally, major infrastructure projects have been approved, including three flyovers at Vyapam Square, Sukhi Sewania, and Phanda, along with 38 new roads to improve urban mobility. The state government is also planning to expand Bhopal's metropolitan region to include Sehore, Vidisha, Narmadapuram, and Raisen, focusing on sanitation, clean drinking water, sewage systems, and road infrastructure.
