Cabinet Approves Construction of 6-Lane Zirakpur Bypass

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the construction of a 6-lane Zirakpur Bypass, spanning 19.2 km, at a cost of Rs 1,878.31 crore. This project, part of the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, aims to ease congestion in Zirakpur, Panchkula, and surrounding areas by diverting traffic from Patiala, Delhi, and Mohali Aerocity, while providing direct connectivity to Himachal Pradesh.

Zirakpur Bypass and Spur Project Work Awarded by NHAI

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded the construction work for the 19.2 km Zirakpur-Panchkula bypass and a 10.3 km spur connecting it to the Ambala-Chandigarh expressway. RKCPL Limited and Ceigall Infra Projects Private Limited are the selected bidders. The bypass is expected to be operational by early 2028, and the spur by late 2027.

Tricity Traffic Relief: New Greenfield Corridor

The Central Government has approved a ₹1,463.95 crore six-lane, access-controlled Greenfield spur in Punjab, connecting the Ambala-Chandigarh section of NH-205A to the Zirakpur Bypass, which is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula and improve connectivity to Himachal Pradesh.
