The Meerut Development Authority is planning a new township in the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) influence zone of the Meerut South Namo Bharat Station. This 295-hectare greenfield development will be of mixed-use. It aims to create a self-sustaining urban ecosystem, leveraging connectivity from the Namo Bharat/RRTS corridor.

Union Minister Peeyush Goyal has called for the development of dedicated sports manufacturing clusters in regions like Meerut, highlighting its potential as a hub for sports goods production. This initiative aims to scale up domestic manufacturing of sports equipment, strengthen indigenous value chains, and generate employment.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched comprehensive integrated development plans for Meerut, focusing on traffic congestion relief and infrastructure modernization. Key proposals include the development of the Bijli Bamba Bypass via public-private partnership, road widening projects, improvements to key junctions, and the redevelopment of University Road.
